Vision

The core focus of our household is for each woman to invest in her relationship with Christ and the other women with which she lives in a way that focuses on Heaven.  This mission of leading souls toward the Kingdom does not pertain only to those who live within the walls of our house, but extends to all people in our school, city, home lives, and ultimately the world.  We desire to live lives that bring life and bare fruit in all aspects of each of our relationships.  – “Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire” - St. Catherine of Siena.

In this sense, the reality of the heart and home being one can be seen on many levels.  Firstly, the women of the house bring such an array of gifts, and these dynamic ways of living out Love form a unique blend of home and heart within household.  But this “One” also refers to the greater community.  We invite others in and welcome all people into our home.  It becomes a place where many students on our campus are able to find shelter and refuge in both physical and spiritual ways.

Aspects of Community Life

Prayer

We are committed to lives focused on relationship with Christ through prayer, and we are able to dedicate ourselves to this relationship through participating in communal prayer and worship throughout the school week.  Not only does this time together work to hold us accountable and serve as testament to the beauty and power of our voices being raised in unison, but it also provides time to catch up with each other and check in throughout the week.

Small Group

The women of the house are split into different small groups which creates time for investing more personally in relationship with each other.  In addition to activities including art, collaging, writing, drawing, and exploring campus, small group time fosters discussion about our personal faith lives and how we can hold each other more accountable within household.  This time as also often filled with discussion about themes presented in both our faith and studies.

Dinner

Our commitment to share a meal together is one that fosters building relationship with all of the women in the house.  We participate in a unified conversation as a way of investing in the lives of the women around us.  From receiving weekly updates from each other and sharing victories to talking about essence fruits, the conversations, which stem from sharing a meal, provide life in our relationship with each other.

EVERYTHING IS GRACE

St. Therese of Lisieux, Patroness of Household

Our house received its name Lisieux at the beginning of its second year. We are a missionary household dedicated to evangelization through love in our own little ways as young college aged women. This was the mission of St. Therese of Lisieux. In her life on earth, though it was short, she never passed up the opportunity to show love through small sacrifices and little acts of kindness. A missionary heart is one that loves recklessly and this is what we aim to do as we strive to go and do likewise with the help of St. Therese who said she would spend her infinity in heaven doing good on earth. May we spend our little time on earth helping her accomplish this seemingly small, but huge undertaking.
